Mid Cities AMBUCS History

Mid Cities AMBUCS Mission

A Fun way to Serve

There are 4 major areas that we focus on in Mid Cities AMBUCS in order to be a successful organization.

SERVICE

The primary purpose for the organization is to serve our community and those who are less fortunate.  We do this in many ways.  Providing AmTrykes to children and verterans with disabilities is just one way we serve.  We are affiliated with many other groups in the community that allow us to give back in other ways.

FUNDRAISING

In order to serve the community in the various ways that we do, we have to raise and budget money.  We are however a non profit organization so everything that we raise goes into our budget in order to make a difference in our community.

SCHOLARSHIPS

As an orgaization that works so closely with disabled children and adults, it is important to us that we assist aspiring therapists by providing scholarships to help them through school.  It is only through a therapist's recommendation that we are able to give an AmTryke away.

FUN

While we spend countless hours and much of our effort to giving back to the community, we also make time to have a little fun.  Service projects are made fun by the great group we have working together, but sometimes it is important to let loose and have team outings.  Movie nights, museum trips, and baseball games are just a few outings we have been on recently.

Mid Cities AMBUCS was chartered on JAN 31, 2004 by the Yellow Rose Chapter.  Our Sparkplug was Mary Welch. The Yellow Rose AMBUCS was chartered in 1989.  The Yellow Rose Chapter stood strong for 21 years with its 36 members before rejoining the Irving Chapter from whom they were originally chartered.  One of the Yellow Rose members, Cynthia Young, was the first woman national president of AMBUCS.  Mid Cities AMBUCS is proud to come from such a high standard of accomplishment and success.  Currently, we have 3 active members from the Yellow Rose Chapter in Mid Cities AMBUCS carrying on the tradition of service to those in need. We are still growing and hoping to be able to take on bigger and more impacting projects than ever before.  A special thanks to Barbara Crawley Harper, a Yellow Rose/Irving member, for sharing the rich history of our Chapter.
